Long startup times, programs taking ages to open, noisy fans or a computer that struggles with your everyday work? A health check helps identify what is holding it back before you spend money on upgrades.
Tell us what you use your computer for and where it feels slow. We can discuss storage, memory, software and cooling, then recommend a repair, service or compatible upgrade to suit your budget.
We can assess startup programs, free storage space, updates and signs of unwanted software. A slow computer may need maintenance, a hardware upgrade or investigation of a fault.
Drive & memory checks
Discuss drive-health checks, memory testing and whether your workload is running out of RAM or storage. A failing drive needs a different approach from a healthy drive that is simply slow.
Overheating & noisy fans
We look at cooling, dust, airflow and fan behaviour. Heat can reduce performance or cause shutdowns; cleaning alone will not fix every cooling fault.
Stability & gaming performance
Freezing, blue screens, restarts and game crashes can have several causes. Tell us which programs or games trigger the issue so we can discuss appropriate checks.
Software & system housekeeping
Ask about supported operating systems, drivers, updates and unwanted applications. We discuss changes before removing software or resetting your system.
A practical upgrade plan
We check the model, connections, power requirements and physical space before recommending parts. Some laptop components are soldered in and cannot be upgraded.
OLD DRIVE. FRESH START.
Move to a faster SSD without starting from scratch.
Replacing a traditional hard drive with a compatible SSD can improve startup and application loading. A larger SSD can also give you more room for games, photos and documents.
Where the source drive is healthy and the system is suitable, cloning can copy the existing operating system, applications and files to the replacement drive. We discuss the best approach before starting.
Transfer or clone—which do you need?
File transfer moves agreed documents, photos and other files to another system. It does not automatically move installed programs.
Drive cloning copies a drive’s contents and system structure. Different hardware, encryption, existing faults and software licences can affect whether the result will work. Some applications need reinstalling or reactivation.
Transfer / suitable clone + setup: £78 including VAT (£65 + VAT). Replacement drives, other hardware and new software licences are extra. Damaged-drive recovery is quoted separately.
More compatible memory can help when you work with several applications, larger files or demanding games. We check the supported type and capacity.
SSD & storage
Ask about replacing an old hard drive, increasing SSD capacity or adding storage. We check SATA / NVMe compatibility and available connections.
Graphics cards & gaming upgrades
Discuss the games, resolution and performance you want. Graphics upgrades depend on the case, power supply and the rest of the system; most laptop GPUs are not replaceable.
Cooling & thermal servicing
PC cleaning inside and out, laptop strip-down cleaning and renewal of thermal material where appropriate. Faulty fans or cooling components may need replacement.
Power supplies, cases & other parts
Ask about power, airflow, quieter operation, connectivity or other customisation. We quote for the complete compatible change, including any fitting required.
Repair or replace?
If an upgrade would offer poor value, discuss the alternatives with us. Your budget and what you need the computer to do should guide the decision.
Parts and fitting are quoted after checking your system. If you’re choosing a PC or laptop from our stock, select your options under Enquire & customise before purchasing.
